oh ok. yeah i've seen some amd motherboards for cheaper, but i've had better luck with intel in my experience.

Okay, very odd. I did a search forf 4 pci-es yesterday, before I posted, and I swear thee were only 2 boards there!

That'll be a nice rig, but also grab a decent cooler, and you'll beabnle to bpound the cpu into oc submission!

If youre going to big-advanc you might want be low on ram.

With a shader clock that low, you won't have that great of performance; my guess that it's at least 500 PPD (maybe even 1k) lower than a normal clocked one.

Not 500, I've only OC mine to 1800mhz.

But it could be boosed to better perform.

My reference clocked 8800GT is 250 PPD less than my superclocked one. The shader clock is only around 100 Mhz different.

Weird, that doesn't make sense. Are you running Linux or a Linux VM in Windows?

Don't forget, smp 8 is still possible on regular SMP WUs. An i7 OCed tears through SMP units with the smp 8 flag set.

Honestly, I'd buy the i7 and OC to 4ghz. The bigadv may not be around forever, but it seems that it won't just die off tomorrow.

I'm doing ~20k PPD on each of my i7s. Take 2-3 vid cards to do that.

Really? What settings am I missing then... I have set smp 8 flags obviously, and I run at 4.3 ghz and I get ~2.7k ppd for the smp cores. For whatever reason, it does only utilize 50% CPU though. I have HT on.... >.<

I get more than that on my Q9550! I get ~5700 PPD. You have something setup wrong even just for normal SMP folding.

But you need the -bigadv flag for i7 to get over 20k ppd.
