This the one that was recommended? No thanks that's half the cost of the build w/ the Corsair.

For that kind of money, I'll buy a REAL server grade PSU......Zippy.

I never recommended the Turbo Cool 1200 , i just used it as an example in my previous post. I said it was too expensive for the proposed rig.

Aside from the TC1200, there is the TC300 and TC860 as well. Not to mention the fact that you can still find TC510s and TC1000s with a simple google shopping search. I never recommended a TC1200 either.

Just saying, don't get so stuck on the Corsair bandwagon so much that you overlook something that may end up working better for your desired application.

Mr. Scott, I don't know why there is this sudden desire to attack me. But NOWHERE in any of my previous posts to I say anything about Corsair being bad. And marketing verbage from the company in question's own website is hardly a reliable source that you seem so fond of. I could grab a couple of batteries and tape them together and market them as a server grade UPS but that doesn't make it fact. We're all fanboys of something or other. I am a fanboy of something I have repeated personal success with and a 0% failure rate. I have personally owned no fewer than 15 different Turbo Cool PSUs and every single one whether still owned by me, operating equipment managed by me or in a customer rig is still running with nary an issue. The 3 Corsair units I have first hand experience with, the 2 400CXs are both running fabulously while the 550VX I put in our Exchange server that I built lasted 4 months before having to swap it out with something more up to the task (picked up a Delta locally that has been running just fine for the last year and a 3 months) after the Corsair just quietly died one day.

Turbo Cool units are made for PCP&C by a company that is known for server grade PSUs to server grade specs. This isn't some random drivel. This is using information from several sources including Oklahoma Wolf, David Hammock and 2 EEs incuding one who was a former employee of PCP&C who helped develop the specs that they wanted the TC series PSUs to be built to.
The whole supporting truth thing can swing both ways. The old addage, "I read it on the internet so it MUST be true" sort of fits the situation. Given enough time, I could find information out there that debunks the sky being blue, the earth revolving around the sun and water being wet.

Do Seasonic, Channel Well and Delta all make server grade PSUs? Yup. But the HX and TX and TC series PSUs are all built to different specs based on the final reseller's requests.

Anyway, to the OP, go ahead, get the Corsair unit. It is a quality unit. But personally, I wouldn't trust 4 video cards running at 100% 24/7 to it. **Note that was an expression of opinion and in no way to bemisconstrued as anything resembling and attack on someone else's opinion or person.

Now I am going to GTFO as it is obvious that my input was not wanted.

Don't be a drama queen.
I attacked no-one. All I asked for was a credible link that states Turbo Cools are server grade units, as their own website doesn't. It lists them as industrial grade. Which is ok, but Corsair lists their HX and TX units as industrial grade also. So, wouldn't it be logical to assume that Corsair units were also server grade? If I'm wrong, just show me a link that says so. That's all I'm asking. Jesus christ, I wasn't looking to debate this, I just wanted to know for my own personal knowledge.

BTW, I'm no Corsair fanboy. I already know there are other PSU's out there.

Oh and way to "attack no-one" with the drama queen comment. Really drives your point home.

I used to own a Turbo Cool 510, it was my favorite power supply of all time. It had adjustable pots and was rock solid stable.

Now i have a Strider 400 so i might not be able to upgrade to as high a video card i want in the future. I bet i can run a 4850x2 on this beast.

Actually, your desire to continue forward with a "classic" platform could easily be construed as a form of fanboyism.

You're a fan of classic platforms. You believe that they are more than capable of performing the tasks you need at a sufficient speed no matter what anyone else says to you about it.

So and so believes that NVidia is better than ATI no matter what you or anyone else says to them to prove otherwise.

Sounds awful familiar hmm?

Additional Comment:

And I am not trying to say you are wrong, right or a purple flesh eating pollywog. I am just saying that there ARE other options available to the OP and that he doesn't need to be blinding by a consensus.

Hell, he could roll the dice on a 600w Chiefmax and get lucky. The Chiefmax running my grandfather's rig has been doing so without a single issue.

The point is, OP, take the input in this thread and combine it with your own research and make a decision based on everything not just opinions expressed here.

I can "twist" whats written too. Stop playing games, it just re-enforces your drama queen role.

Then use it, and find me a link to back up your statements, otherwise I'll just assume that you're talking out your bunger.

Seems you're twisting this into a "I'm better than you" argument so rather than corrupt the thread with more crap, I will gracefully bow out and invte you, Mr.Scott to continue your immature mud slinging via PMs.

And you have touted the performance of your rigs in several threads over the years and in fact tout them even in your sig by encouraging people to visit classicplatforms.com. Seems to be an awful lot of effort for something you aren't confident in...

People will learn more from a mistake then from listening to someone who has already had it happen. You have to make your suggestions and give the facts and your opinions and let them figure out the rest.

I don't think he is directing it at you Mr. Scott. I think it a general commentary on humans in general. Sometimes it takes a set of burnt off eyebrows to realise that it's a bad idea to start the woodburning stove with gasoline.
