SL8J9 help in cooling Please

ok here goes nothing... I have an intel slj8 2.93 ghz
Thermal spec on this proccessor according to intel is 67.7 c
I have OCed it to 3.4 mhz so far and now things are getting a little warm..
using the pc for surfing downloading and average use it is runing around 64c
under othros stress it is heating up to 69-70c

I am running a stock heatsink on an ab9 pro It has a 4000 rpm ball bearing fan on it. I have one exaust fan in a card slot.

it is in an old mid tower atx with no case mods as of yet.
the heat sink has had no mods and I am really hesitant to try a lap on the cpu. I will try to lap heatsink if you think this will help but would want pretty clear english instructions on how to do so..

I have no problem with cutting case and adding fans where ever needed thinking of adding a second to heat sink.

trying to do this with no money involved. I do have access to many fans from probably 3" and down

So please instruct and teach me wise ones

realy think if I get this heat down many degrees I can oc to 3.8 or better havent even messed with voltages to proccessor yet.

thanks

Additional Comment:

Ops just some added info here is the link to intels spec page on this proccessor if needed I still don't know what the max safe temp would be.
http://processorfinder.intel.com/det...px?sSpec=SL8J9

and since i did not personally buy the heat sink I am not 100% sure but I believe it is this one
Dynatron P785 77mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler

The only thing is the specs say 5500 rpm but I haven't been able to get it above 4080 rpm. Would have listed the spec page but didn't know if a link to newegg would be acceptible to provide the info on my cooler

thanks

Here's my take on everything you're saying. Stay where you are! I say this because you've said that you don't want to spend any money. Well, without money, you cannot buy a quality HSF. As long as you are stuck with the Intel OEM cooler, I can tell you that your temps are about average for a 3.4GHz OC on stock Vcore. You are at the limit that the stock HSF can handle. As for maximum temps...most people seem to use 90c as a TjMax for that CPU. Personally I do not like to push a CPU more than 10% past it's rated thermal specs. For you that would mean 75c on the outside. There are folks who will tell you they run theirs at 80c all day with no problems. However, that's your call....what ever you're comfortable with.
Good Luck!
