I have 2 500GB drives, 1 1.5TB drive, 1 160GB drive, and 1 320GB drive. I've had an OS on all but the 1.5TB drive, which is my newest. I'd like to replace all of the smaller drives with 2 more 1.5 or 2TB drives. I'm actually running out of space too. Before I cleaned up a bunch of junk, I had about 200GB free. Now I have around 450GB.

RAID0 is too dangerous for regular use, so I reverted back to regular drives. Two 320GB Blue AAKS and two 640GB Black, I use both Blue drives... one for the OS, the other for softwares and games. Gonna format one of my two Blacks (one was used in my 754 rig) and use it as a data drive, then clean up the other Black (it's full at 95% of backups and an old install).

I've been using Raid 0 for 7 years and haven't had a drive fail yet. 1 Set of drives for 2 years, 2 sets of drives for 2 years after that.

I keep my critical data backed up.

Wasn't saying this as a point to start a flame or whatever. I used a RAID0 config on my AM2+ setup, however I found out that minor speed increase is not exactly worth the ~8 extra seconds boot time because of the stupid RAID BIOS manager autodetecting the drives each time.

It was definitively nice to have tho while carrying larger files.

Yeah it's something I couldn't stand. Of course it was a bit snappier.... I had short-stroked everything to get the first 80GB of my drives, so I had 160GB total, and it was quite snappy

I currently run 1 300 GB WD VelociRaptor for my O.S. and programs/games (1 50 gig partition for O.S. and 1 250 gig partition for games/programs) and 1 WD Black Cavier 1 Terabyte drive for multimedia storage.

Looking at getting a SSD for the O.S. and the games/programs though for the near future.

Vista doesn't, with the exception of ultimate, which includes a lot more extra's.

Because it uses 15% of your drive for Shadow storage (System restore) space. If you want to reduce that you have to do it through the command prompt.

edit:
15% isn't much on a 64 GB raid array, I have no idea why Vista is using that much space for you. It should be more like 15 GB.
