Power Consumption of 73 graphic cards
It is french, so please use a web page translator. Power consumption is a not immediate expense for the GPU folder, and will affect the expense in the long term. http://www.hardware.fr/articles/781-...raphiques.html Hope it was useful for you fellow folders

An interesting plot to see would be PPD/watt.

As far as my reading goes, I find that the GT240 is the best PDD/watt card untill this moment. There is a big leap in wattage from the 240 to the 250.

I'm in the market for a good ppd/watt chart... trying to figure out if it's still worthwhile to run the PS3.
PS3 is 200w for ~1000ppd, (the slim version is a much better equation!) but I don't know as much about all the other CPU or GPU clients. |

Well, my PC pulls about 350 watts and produced 14K ppd, how does that grab you?

Maybe somebody would be able to explain this. The GTX 295 is pretty much two GTX 280's stuck together. Why then isn't the 295 double the power consumption of the 280?

Also, maybe the tested the single PCB version? I would think that would use less power. |

almost 100ppd / watt!
alright, for me the GT240 is a go, I have found this review of asus GT240 DDR5
at with furmark it takes only 49 watts! http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.ph...1&limitstart=3 almost 100 ppd/ watt! Last edited by levathar : 03-07-2010 at 09:45 AM. Reason: title input |

Watercooled & folding

The science is worth it, but maybe not the electric cost. My gaming rig pulls 780 watts from the wall, and nets between 44k and 52k ppd depending on the work units (it loves the little 353 pointers leveling off at the 52k, and slows it down to the 44k threshold during the 1888 pointers). I still have a single CPU client that is in my garage folding, I also have 2 dual-cpu's folding, my HTPC folds on 3 cores and its secondary GPU (couldn't make the primary fold without getting choppy while viewing on my 55" LED tv). So, for me, it's about the science, not so much the watts. I slowly replace my older stuff and then I upgrade stuff down the line. I am about to have a GPU folding in every PC. That's where the points are for all except those with the very latest high-end CPU's. |

I still want to help but electricity costs here are crazy, my wife is unemployed and so far my meager salary has to go for everything. Yet I do plan on hardware replacement. Will sell this E6750 and eventually buy a more recent dual core, eventually one AMD to make that ACC work and get extra cores. Yet I am undecided. |
