Coolmax 750 watt power supply review?

Are there any reports / reviews / user experiences on using a Coolmax RM-750B all aluminum unit? I did some searching but haven't found anything specific for it yet.

It would be going in a quad core multi GPU PC.

Coolmax is not considered to be a quality choice among enthusiasts. After following detailed product tests for several years I would not trust the printed specs and would probably not be satisfied by the electrical performance of most Coolmax power supplies. The Coolmax RM-750B triple +12v rail design would be a poor match for a system with an overclocked quad core processor and multiple GPU. Since there are many affordable high quality power supplies on the market today I would suggest looking elsewhere. Here are some thorough reviews of Coolmax power supplies.

As Josie said you can do much better for the money. You will probably want to look at a high powered single rail unit for a quad core pc with multiple graphics cards.

Please list what your system specs that you will be building including which processor, graphics card and other components you will be using if you want a more accurate match.

The Corsair TX-750 will serve you much better for much longer than the Coolmax and is suited to many quad core sli/crossfire setups.

Can't beat that for the price.

Long time since I checked this. I got the folding PC running, but getting more than 3 GPUs going at a time was always a problem. I had to use old 175.19 drivers to get 3 GPUs running. With any newer drivers (181.22 to 197.13, and about 6 versions in between), the PC would shut down if more than 2 GPUs had their folding turned on.

System specs:

Coolmax RM750B power supply.
MSI K9A2 Platinum motherboard Version 2
Phenom 9650 quad core, stock 2.3 Ghz
4 PNY 8800GT 256 MB graphics cards
Seagate Barracuda 80 GB SATA hard drive.
XP Home SP3

And that's all. It's a pure folding PC.

After reading the reviews, I've concluded that Coolmax should be renamed CRAPMAX.

I ordered a replacement power supply yesterday, a Corsair TX950W. Single 12 volt rail, 78 amps capacity, it comes with 6 6+2 GPU power plugs!

That ought to do the job!

The Corsair TX-950 a superior replacement for that CrapMax you are running now, i am glad you made a solid choice.
