Thats a regular sized ATX power supply.
See Section 4.2 http://www.formfactors.org/developer...public_br2.pdf What video card are you going to get and what is your budget? I would recommend the Corsair VX-550 for any single quad core processor with any single video card setup with overclocking. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139004 If you can afford more money, go with an HX-650 for more quality and modular cables. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139012 Also change out your stock HSF and overclock the processor

![]() I'm thinking about getting the XFX 4770. Here's the psu I was looking at. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817339012 It has decent reviews and it appears to be almost identical to my current psu with more power. And if you couldn't tell by now, I'm EXTREMELY cheap. I just simply don't have the money for the supplies I'd like

Thats an old ATX design power supply with an over-inflated 3.3 and 5v rail. Its a bad choice for any modern computer , and cheaping on the psu is the last place to do it. Cheap power supplies can burn up and take our your entire system with it. If you are cheap you should go with a quality inexpensive unit. This would fit the bill if you can spend $50 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139008 Its $35.99 after rebate and made with quality internals so it won't burn up your entire system. I can't recommend much cheaper than that. As far as the video card goes. If your going to go with the 4770, make sure you get the XFX which has the double lifetime warranty. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-369-_-Product I just ordered a 5770 today by XFX from Newegg, can't wait to upgrade from my 9600GT Do you wanna buy a used 9600GT $60 and about the same performance of a 5770 Its 11 months old http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814121229 |

I was hoping I could spend 30 bucks and be good to go lolI was kind of wanting a PSU that blew the air out the back of the case though because my system has such little air flow. So even though that PSU is 400 watts just like mine, it performs MUCH better or something? The reviews appear flawless for it. |

All power supplies blow air out the back. The ones with the 120 mm fan on top intake from inside the case and blow outside.
A 120 mm fan PSU is quieter and moves more air in general than the smaller rear mounted fans. The Corsair i linked you blows out the back of the case. Fan placement should NOT be a deciding factor when buying a power supply unless it effects the intake being blocked by the case. |

I probably shouldn't do this...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817171046 30 bucks. Good reviews. Known brand. Acceptable? |

This is as cheap as you can go. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817104953 The Corair is still cheaper if you count the rebate. Think about it this way. Your paying a little more now, but do you really wanna spend $500 to replace your system when a crappy power supply takes it out in flames ? I've see it happen And if you haven't seen the best PSU thread in the world, it exists on this forum from our own DH. http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...2&page=1&pp=20 This is what it would look like but not from just having the switch flipped having a cheapo! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqwJk4yCbw4 |
