Metro 2033 FOV Setting Goodness
The Default FOV is 45. The highest possible FOV is 90. The lowest possible FOV is 1. I have done increasing values of 5 for the field of view to show as many different possibilities without having to do a lot of work. FOV - 45 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 50 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 55 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 60 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 65 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 70 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 75 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 80 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 85 Normal View - Zoom View FOV - 90 Normal View - Zoom View These images are large in size and resolution. Just for a little fun though I thought I would try out a FOV 1. To change your Field Of View you will need to edit two config files. These two config files can be found in the locations as follows. \User\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033\user.cfg The AppData folder is hidden by default, to show this folder you will need to go to Tools -> Folder Options... -> View tab -> Mark the circle next to Show hidden files, folders and drives. \Steam\userdata\XXXXXX\43110\remote\user.cfg The X's are to signify a number that is specific to your Steam account, there should(Unless you have multiple accounts) only be one folder in the userdata sub-directory. Edit - At 90 FOV, didn't check above 75 FOV, you can see graphical distortions at the bottom left hand side of the screen when holding the combat knife. This can be slightly annoying and distracting. I would suggest trying to stay at 60-75 for this for best results in performance and atmosphere. To much FOV and you find yourself looking through a fish eye lens. I would say the best FOV to stick with, if they don't fix the fish eye effect, is around 60-75 FOV.
Also, about to start my third play through. I've gotten 28 of the 39 possible Steam achievements so far! It should be noted by a user on the Metro 2033 forums had this to say. "I'm sticking with 55-60 because any more'd show the Kalash's stock floating in mid-air. Anywhere above 55, though, and Artyom looks like he's spilling vodka on his lap during the start of the Bourbon chapter." Last edited by SlayVus : 03-30-2010 at 06:58 AM. |
