ATX Power Connector Replacement
1x - 6" extension 3x - black rightangle 24-pin atx mobo connector 1x - black straight 23-pin atx mobo connector Ive got a test mobo i plan to practice on and see if it works properly the extension is because based off the layout of the mobo if i take out the current atx connector to make the power sockets align correctly I have to invert the pin layout. From the diagram basically the whole thing has to be rotated 180 degrees (24 in the bottom left 13 bottom right, 1 top right 12 top left) sooo, I've never done any sleeving or PSU modding or anything. Do I need any special tools to take the atx cables and pins off the connectors? 1 +5 VDC (red) 13 PSON#2 (gray) 2 Common (black) 14 Common (black) 3 +5 VDC (red) 15 Common (black) 4 Common (black) 16 Common (black) 5 PWRGOOD1 (orange) 17 N/C 6 +5 VFP (purple) 18 +5 VDC (red) 7 +12 VDC (yellow) 19 +5 VDC (red) 8 –12 VDC (blue) 20 +5 VDC (red) 9 Common (black) 21 TFSC (brown) 10 Common (black) 22 +5 VDC (red) 11 +3.3 VDC (blue/white) 23 +3.3 VDC (blue/white) 12 +3.3 VDC (blue/white) 24 Common (black) |

There are tools available but you should be available by twisting a staple, or stuff like that.

I don't think the question is dumb. I have never did anything like that so I would have no ideal what to do.

staple works good... or you can buy a tool up to you.
I have this one, works good, it took me a while to get it to work but after I got the hang of it works every time. |

Wow that **** was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be the staples + pliers were a piece of cake to pop out the pins. I don't like the way the sleeving looks so I just used a plastic fusion spray paint. My case theme I'm aiming for is black on black with a blackground
.I was too lazy to pull the pins on the other end of the extension so only 90% of it is black, I figured I'd hide that on the backside of the case anyway. The spray can say matte black, looks more glossy black, eh whatever its black that' what I wanted. |
