OCZ Platinum Edition DDR3 6GB Triple-Channel Memory Kit @ EOC!

EXTREME Overclocking has just posted a review on the OCZ Platinum Edition DDR3 6GB (3 x 2GB) Triple-Channel Memory Kit.
OCZ’s Platinum Edition Triple Channel memory kits are low voltage, low latency, and high speed memory modules. They are designed for the Intel X58 chipset, and come in 3GB, 6GB, and 12GB kits. We will be looking at the 6GB PC3-12800 / 1600MHz kit to see how it performs.

Sorry about that the lighting was awful when I was taking the pictures and since the platinum's have almost a mirror reflection it was really hard to get it right.

I've heard a lot of bad things about OCZ DDR3 RAM - of course after I bought a kit for myself because of their good past reputation. It's running now at 1066MHz (DDR1333 stock) - I'm not risking it, I bought the cheapest GSkill ECO (1333MHz 9-9-9 at 1.35v) from Newegg for $100 and will be returning this set. I've heard about failure down the road too, not just immediately.

GSkill makes great stuff, I've always had luck with them in the past and apparently their DDR3 lineup continues their good reputation.

+1 I went through 3 kits before I just gave up on RMA'ing the stuff and bought some Corsair.

Ive had a couple OCZ kits go bad, a Mushkin set go bad, countless Crucial DDR2s go bad, and one set of Gskills that cant run stock clocks/timings.

The only real difference from brand to brand is the cooling and the lable. They all (for the most part) use the same ICs as each other.

OCZ has an especially terrible reputation in the DDR3 market though. Seems like they have more bad kits than good ones when every other manufacturer is fine.
