Lenovo is not doing well according to that chart but from what I have heard is they are pretty decent. Like Dell.
Asus, Toshiba, Sony, Samsug - they seem to do best.
thats good to know. the last thing i want is a poorly built laptop that is going to cosmeticly fall apart as the yrs go by. i want this laptop to out date itself before it falls apart cosmeticly if you know what i mean. Ive seen some HPs that are old as dust but are in exellent condition cosmetic wise. thats what im looking for in this laptop. somthing that will last a few yrs before its totaly outdated and last another few years before its a cosmeticly useless pile shizit!

thx guys,
perc.

I totally agree on Odanez's statement. Just a little clarification though; For the dells and lenovos there are certain series which are excellent and others that I won't touch. Kinda like the acers I wont touch any of them except perhaps the timelineX series which is their best. You pay for it too. Like Odanez I like the Asus, Sony Samsung and Toshibas. I also like the business laptops from dell or lenovo; the lattitudes and thinkpad respectively. People are saying that lenovo is going down in quality though... at least in regard to their business models.

Anything you want specifically screen wise? Blu-ray? The only reason I ask is because you talked about movies. esata or digital outs? The esata for highspeed storage upgrades down the line and the digital outs well for digital out...
USB 3.0? Probably won't be able to find one in this pricerange though.

id like a 17 inch screen but realize 600 bucks will only buy so much. Id like a blueray player/dvd burner combo drive. I dont see burning many blue ray disks due to the cost of the blanks so just a blue ray player would be nice. I mostly do movies from the torrent sites but i also upload movies aswell so i deff want a system that can do both encode and other things at the same time. nothing worse then encoding a movie and not being able to do anything else while it encodes. As far as digita outs go... It would be nice but not somthing id base my buying options on.

yeah thats a nice deal too and in my price range. i dont mind the scratch and dent sales either. looks like my biggest problem buying this laptop is makeng up my mind. price doesnt seems to be an issue here. you guys have shown me plenty of good deals on stuff in my price range. Im probly going to lean toward intel on this buy. i will have to save some more money these next two paycheck wich is good cause i will be in the 600 dollar range giving me a beter choice of laptops.

good call on the dell web site. two minutes on the site and found this here with a 17 inch screen abd its an i3 intel. i don't like the 5400 rpm hd but the rest of the specs look good.

looks good here for the price. The screen is led and has a decent resolution for a laptop. The processor is decent and yeah the only thing really iffy is the drive. But hey Christmas is coming, get yourself a nice SSD and enjoy. Good luck picking it out.

when you find what you want on the dell site you have to go fast, the good ones come and go fast. I recomend shelling out a little money for the service plan.

I had the three year deal (got it at a military rate) i got a new mobo, and a couple of diffrent power cords, plus some support with my wireless card without hassle.

Additional Comment:

if you are buying new, seph said to call and talk to them in person and talk them down in price, tell them you saw a particular acer for less.

If you want to go a little higher, Sony makes a great laptop with a nice keyboard and LED backlit screen.
