Never thought I would be getting anything back from Borderlands... Thanks for the tip.
They are advertising that you can purchase a "Borderlands Game of the Year Edition" and still get a First Access key: http://www.dukenukemforever.com/borderlands/ Right now, all it gives you is two desktop wallpapers that have already been floating around and a placeholder for the demo. I told myself I would never buy another Gearbox game, but then the impossible happened... There must be an almighty, because someone up there is messing with me. |

When people refer to the awesomeness that is Duke Nukem, they aren't referring to the original games. They are referring to Duke Nukem 3D. All the other games range from crappy to average.

Not sure if 3DRealms ever released it as freeware, but there is also a shareware edition which gives you the first level and the jist of what it was about: You can download the full Atomic ed at Gog for $5.99: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/duke_...atomic_edition Use EDuke32 to make it generally look less dated (and actually be able to run it). The strippers are laughable, though. DN3D was heavy on manhumor, puns and 90's references, so you might not "get" it. What made it fun was the sheer amount of content, interactivity and toys like 'roids, jetpack, shrink ray, freezethrower, laser trip mines, pipe bombs, holoduke, night vision, underwater levels, security cameras, mirrors, etc. Online play was a blast. Back then, the ability to JUMP or angle your gun vertically was even a big thing. Decent music and sound FX were also a difference, compared to the non-existent music and generic FX you get in current FPSs. Comical gore and strippers, didn't hurt either.

Duke and Duke 2 are awesome sidescrollers, but you need to do some trippy stuff to get them to work.
