running backtrack4 in vmware

hey guys, my primary os is windows7ult. running vmware workstation. when i install backtrack4 as a vm on a separate harddisk everything is fine. when i try to update backtrack, apt-get update or apt-get upgrade, kaspersky in windows detects multiple viruses. i know backtrack has these files for pentesting but will they affect my main os (win7) ? any thought of how to exclude the vm from kaspersky or would that not be a good idea just in case a virus comes through the network and onto my windows install. thanks

Not at all, not unless you enable the features that allow you to copy/paste between the two.

i guess that makes sense. the only reason kaspersky went off was it detected the updaets through the network interface, which is the same on the host and vm. i ordered a alfa usb to use through vmware, didnt get it yet. what if my only connection updating backtrack is through the alfa usb in vmware and i disable the alfa in windows, would kaspersky detect a virus then ?
