broke macbook screen
Mac store says anywhere from 250 - 450 dollars to repair. Is this the only option I have? It is a Macbook from 2006-2007 I believe it is a 13 inch based on the location of the serial number (underneath the battery). It is my fiancees so I don't know to much about it. The serial number isn't truing up anything yet Last edited by KingJames84 : 01-15-2011 at 12:28 PM. |

the model number is a1181
I think that it is a 13 inch mac book, looking at ebay now and some other places. edit- ordered the new screen and tools off of amazon for 108 bucks shipped. Found a great do it yourself article that is step by step and cautioned about remembering what screw goes where because of the constant size changes in the screws. Will have the part and tools on January 19th. Wont rush this either, I want i t done right lol Last edited by KingJames84 : 01-15-2011 at 11:31 PM. |

Yeah, replacing the LCD shouldn't be too much trouble. I have been considering buying a broken MacBook (LCD screen) and just buying and replacing the screen. Too bad everyone else has the same idea seeing as how broken MacBooks go for $300+ (although $400-$450) for a 13 inch MacBook wouldn't be bad.

the led lcd thing is only $70 shipped off ebay. take it apart first and look at the model number of the lcd panel and search it up on ebay. you only need a torx screw driver and philips to open the macbook. its a fairly easy repair. takes about an hour for me. i refurb these broken screen mb and mbp's all the time for side income.
