Short answer is yes. That PSU will work fine.
That PSU is built with modern stats (power on the 12v rail vs 5v) and wouldn't bat an eyelash at that HTPC rig. |

No i completly agree. I paid a lot of money for one of those power supplies years back and they are top of the line for 12 volt stability. Will work fine with any 24 pin motherboard. You might need an adapter if you have an 8 pin motherboard, but its amazing quality!

I would not hesitate to use that power supply in any modern rig.

I would take that power supply and replace my Seasonic S12 600 in my rig now if you wanted to trade for a quieter PSU.

I'm tempted but, as this is an upgrade, I need to get it up and running again. I might have an issue however. It only has a 20 pin and (seperate) four pin mobo power plugs and I can't find any four pin molex to (don't know what those yellow ones are called) converters. Will it work with just the 20 in the one spot and the four over in the other?

Thanks. I just ordered one from my local Microcenter. I can hardly believe I don't have one laying around here with all the old stuff I have. A lot of it, I didn't even know what it was for and still don't. Might be fun to post pictures and see if anyone can identify it.

Maybe I'll give it a go. It could save me a long drive. Additional Comment: I went and bought the adapter, mostly because I had never been to Microcenter and wanted to see it. It was well worth the trip and only $6.50 for the part. Got it installed and the system is humming like a bird, not noisy at all. Thanks again for the advice.
