Are OC System Enhanced Radeons ok?
Since I already had about $400 earmarked for a new vid card - I was curious what you folks thought about the "enhanced" OC System Radeons with the heat pipe cooling? (my case does have a side panel fan that blows on the vid card area) I'm really not interested in modding a vid card myself - so it's either a stock Radeon or an Enhanced one. I've honestly never been a huge fan of ATI cards but the Radeon seems to have proven itself and it seems Nvidia has slipped a little bit now. Thoughts? Thanks in advance. |

If you're not going to overclock, I think the OC system card would be a nice card for you. If you do decide to overclock later you already have a good card, and I'm pretty sure you can change the cooling on those things.

Thanks guys - I currently have a Asus gf4 4200 128mb agp 8x card in my machine - so I'm not really sure I'd see "that" big of an improvement with either a OC Systems Radeon or even the new FX.
The majority of my gaming consists of Everquest and some fps games like UT 2003 etc. Do you think it's even worth the expense of upgrading at this point? I do experience some video lag in large raid encounters in Everquest when there are 40-60 other folks there. Thoughts? |

hehe honestly most VC still lag in situations like that in EQ.... at least from what ive seen...... i would go for that radeon..... as for the fx well a stock radeon can hold its own agains the fx so a radeon clocked over 400 should very easily destroy it.... but if you dont know what you wana do wait for the new drivers for the fx and then make your decision cause nvidia might just pull some magic out of thier a$$ with the fx
im shure you would be extremely happy with the 9700pro
