an odd email issue

Earlier today, I sent a message to Diablotek using the online email form here,
http://www.diablotek.com/index.php?p...mart&Itemid=53

I sent the message, and shortly received an email "Confirmation of receipt of your enquiry". At the exact moment I received the email, I got a second message in my box, "Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender".

The returned email message read,

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

chagnethisswi@ithyouremailla-ddress.com

The mail server could not deliver mail to chagnethisswi@ithyouremailla-ddress.com. The account or domain may not exist, they may be blacklisted, or missing the proper dns entries.

Now I have received such messages before, but I didn't mail anything from my email client and the mail to address does not make any sense. That email is generally a placeholder that comes on web template forms where you are supposed to replace the address with the one you want.

This was actually the from address of the confirmation email, which I guess is intended so you can't reply directly. So it is like the receipt of the email tried to trigger a reply, which failed because the address doesn't exist.

The text of the email contains the message that I sent through the web browser, but also contains some html and what looks like a encoded jpg.

This is a bit odd and I would like to know what it was that was trying to send an email from my computer to some bizarre address that's not supposed to work anyway.

I can post the messages if anyone wants to see them.

I too got a number of invoices from New York over a period of time, with my mastercard number but the wrong names, I didn't reply, just replaced my mastercard. Figured it was safer, didn't lose anything, just played it safe.
