Need Help in Overclocking
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.2Ghz Gskill DDR500 2Gbs Nvidia 8800 GTX 768mb PSU 500w The problem that I am having is I increase the FSB with ClockGen up to 220 and that gives me around 2.4Mhz but i want to increase the FBS to at least 250. What happends when i increase the FSB higher than 220 my computer just freezes do i have to increase the voltage on my cpu or my ram or do i decrease the clocks on my ram i have uploaded pictures of CPU-Z for reference |

several things happen when you bump the FSB,
1. the cpu becomes unstable, it needs more vcore (and with more voltage you need good cooling) 2. RAM,NB,HT become unstable. if you were overclocking through a bios, there would be options to slow these back down to stock. 3. If i recall (ive never used) reading clockgen also increases the PCI, and this will cause problems with corrupting the HDD as well. is this an old oem (dell/hp etc) that has a locked down bios?? if so PM Mr.Scott, he knows how to get some moded bioses for those boards. |

It is a Abit Kn8 Series motherboard i can go into the bios and increase the FSB from there aswell but i tryed it once and the computer didnt want to turn boot so i had to reset the bios? I do have a aftermarket heatsink so the temperature on the cpu is fine its at 47C using speedfan

its much better to OC from the bios if you have those options.
if you get an unstable overclock that wont boot, its no big deal you just have to clear it via jumpers, or pulling the battery, unplugging, and holding down power button. its inevitable you will do this a time or two as you are learing. you should give this a read through, then post back with questions. http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...d.php?t=297148 best to list all your system specs as well. Additional Comment: hopefully 47c is load temps not idle Last edited by prudhomb : 09-19-2011 at 05:30 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
