Question My PSU Isn't Big Enough Is It??? - Nope - PSU Test Fails In Under 4 Seconds...

So I started a bench this morning and another when I got home from work, Haven Bench and it ran without a hitch. Then I was playing some rift and about 3 1/2 hours into the raid I crashed and the computer just shut off completely, the lights in the house didn't flicker so I know it was just the computer. So being a stubborn b*stard I turned it back on and hopped into raid...about an hour later I crashed again, this time a BSOD, at his point the air coming out of the PSU was only warm, not super hot or anything. So I took the computers advice and disabled SLI, so far no issues. Then when I was done playing rift I decided to enable SLI again and run the Haven bench and it ran perfectly....so.....fluke, or to much for my PSU?

i7 @ 4gHz
GTX 480 SLI @ 700mHz and .988 vCore (no overclock)
Silverstone ST 850W - Single 67A 12v Rail

Misc...

10 fans
2 HDD's
1 pair of cathodes
2 fan controllers
DVD burner
6GB DDR3
Win 7 64

No, it's not. Sorry, but duh.

Additional Comment:

I moved up to a quality anteq 1000w unit, because I don't like returning parts. First gen Fermi draws a lot of power, don't kid yourself.

850W should still be enough for SLI GTX480s though. I'm on an 800W with SLI GTX470s on a P45 with no issues.

I'll have to check when I get home. I read in a ton of places that a i7 w/ 480SLI should only pull around 660-680 watts, I'm curious if it's a case of bad airflow or something (see what I did there ). I'm going to do some more tests and see, I'll find that error code and post back. Where does windows save those codes at again?

Heavy overclock on both? I wouldn't. You might get by, but I wouldn't consider it safe.

850w for an overclocked quad core with SLI GTX480's is really pushing it. Intense gaming will push the systems power draw to over 80% of the power supplies rated capacity. A bigger power supply is advised.

Especially with overclocked 480s. GPUs can pull significantly more power when overclocked.

Add in the 930 @ ~4GHz and spells disaster. You're gonna need a PSU with a higher peak output.

Actually I can't OC the 480's. Even with a TIM swap they produce to much heat for a stock cooler. So any voltage increase is a no-no.

Run a CPU stresser in the background while you stress the GPUs. If it crashes or shutdowns, not enough PSU. I bet its not producing enough juice.

Also those 10 fans could be drawing a lot of power if they are high performance models.

Question is this, will it F the PSU or my system when it fails? If I need a new one that is fine but I don't want my current one to be so jacked I can't sell it

Sorry, are you sure it's not a "Rage" problem? I've heard it's rather buggy,

or Piece of Sh... (POS).. lol

Have they fixed the texture "popping" and other bugs yet?
