Overclocking a G34
This has to be done with software, I can't imagine there is some secret BIOS flash that magically gives me all the options I want. I've seen mentions of a program called "phenommsrtweaker" and from screenshots I've seen of it, it appears corevoltage and NB voltage can be specified. I've read about certain 6174 "ES" , or engineering sample chips being unlocked. So in other words I might be screwed lol. One other note, a lot of posts talk about loading windows, overclocking then installing linux and running f@h off it. I surmise this might have something to do with software, namely phenommsrtweaker. Since I'm native ubuntu ATM, I can't play around with it. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful for the help. I would think I would have to run like a virtualbox where I boot from windows and run linux in a window, otherwise i don't see how any software could OC these chips. I'm new to all this so I dunno. |

I highly doubt you'll find anyone here with a dual G34 rig OCed. |

You can install Windows and not activate. You'll have 30 days.
I haven't overclocked an AMD. You could try raising the ram speeds to see if somehow they are automatically linked with processor speed, and make sure you look in every submenu. Sometimes, in bios when you change Auto to Manual, more settings appear, for instance. |

Well I talked to MOrph3us over at [H]ardforum and it is only possible to OC the 4p supermicro board. I assume he means the Asus made ones, cause he said no Tyan boards were overclockable. Even with the ones that can be OC'ed, only about 12.5% increase can be attained. So that means that the 50% OC's had to all have been done on the unlocked "ES" chips which are extremely rare cause only a handful were made.
Just so long as no one else besides me makes this mistake, I'll be happy. It's my own fault but oh well, I'll just go 4p I guess. |

A 12.5% overclock is 200+mhz when on a 16-32 core machinre is alot of added free ppd.
