Daisy chain D-Link DIR-655 and Arris TG852 Comcast
I've googled and havent found much for connecting these 2 routers together. Optimally I'd like both routers to function fully with both wireless and wired systems working. I'm generally good with configuaring routers to my needs, but I've never had to daisy chain routers together. Thanks Additional Comment: .................................... ...............This is in the wrong forum, meant to put in software forum, not the hardware one. Mods, please move. .................................... Ok, so I finally found out that I have to plug into the LAN port of the second router, not the WAN port. So I'm getting internet to both routers. Now, the last question is, if I have a NAS box, thats both an ftp and a media server, do I use port forwarding to direct port 21 to the second routers IP address, and then on the second router have it port 21 to the static IP of the NAS box? Will I have to forward anything for the media server? Last edited by Scrufdog : 01-28-2012 at 05:12 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Configure the second router to act as a switch, eg disable DHCP on it.
Then simply forward the port to the static ip your NAS uses. |

ok, so when something connects to the second router that asks for an IP the first router will assign it instead? Seems like thats what its doing right now.
Do I setup the port forwards on the first router, second router, or both? Thanks for the help. |

You setup the port forwading on the first router only. The second router should be functioning as a switch only so it will not be doing any traffic filtering.
