I got my daughter a Acer Iconia A100. It's pretty much the same as the A500 with a smaller display. The games run better from what I here than the A500 since it uses the same GPU as the A100. I haven't done much with it though, I haven't had time and I let her take to her mothers when she isn't with me.
The ASUS one's are pretty nice if it's in your price range.

Have to agree, it's also currently on the top of the charts of AnTuTu mobile benchmark @ 1.6GHz without anything threatening it any time soon.
