Problem with memory

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum so i have to say nice job for it. Looks great and i have found some useful things. But i have this particular problem i cannot solve.
I bought a 2x2Gb kit kingston hyperx. Its DDR2-1066 or PC2-8500. (KHX8500D2K2/4G).

The problem is that once i ve installed it, i run CPUID to see if everything is ok and i get that my RAM is PC2-6400 or DDR-800.

Here's a pic of my CPUID :

My mobo is an Asus P5Q. I m mentioning it in case i have to do some settings in the bios in order to fix this problem. (Although i dont have encountered that problem never again)

Is this possible or is anything wrong?

I think i belong in the case i bought an Iphone 4S and the box contains an iphone 4

Normal. The 1066 (pc8500) is a XMP profile. You have to set everything manually for that.

XMP = Extreme Memory Profile. You may have to change your FSB : DRAM, timings, and voltage per the manufactures specifications.

Timings and voltage should be 5-5-5-15 2T @ 2.2v
Memory frequency should be set at 533.
All settings are done in the bios.

Mr Scott was referring to a base memory frequency of 533mhz which with double data rate memory is 1066mhz. You need to set DDR2-1066 if it is available.

Ok i ve done it. I ve put it in DDR2-1066MHz. The thing is that it still showing the same results in cpuid only that the FSB is now 533 (logic). And one more thing cause i dont get it. I ve bought a product that will be running stock at 1066Mhz. Why in the heck kingston sells products that u have to overclock them??Cause i ve read around in google and many people have this particular problem. I really don't know.... It s like buying a lamborghini and they give u a ferrari and they say to u: U have to put turbo boost in order to get that 100+ horsepower...

Anyway here's the new CPUID pics.

Good stuff. When building a custom computer system it is not uncommon to have to manually adjust memory settings up to the manufacture's specifications.

This is especially true in DDR2 situations above 800Mhz, DDR above 400Mhz, and DDR3 above 1600Mhz.

Yes, it is. The description you're looking at in CPU-Z (PC2-6400) will never change.
