Any idea what F@H is compiled with? gcc/mingw or MSVS for windows, or a commercial compiler like icc, or pgi?

It used to be Intel's compiler, but I think that changed long ago.

Well I got my electric bill today... I think my folding will be left to the 2p from now on :-/ 1 CPU and 2 gpus tend to pull a lot of power :-/ makes me want to move back on base where I don't have to pay for electric

Also I got a 6903 running at a tpf of 46 ish minutes. Bonus calc is saying 3-3 1/2 days at about 75-80k ppd. I installed kraken but I'm not sure if it's kicking in yet

My electric bill is a little crazy, too. My plan all along was to turn off some machines once the 4p was going full force. It's just taking longer than I expectes. I'm doing a 6904 at 45 minutes projecting something like 150 ppd. When I add the other 2 procs, the bonus goes crazy. At that point, my ppd for one 4p will be mor than 10 times my current average using several quads.

Kraken announces itself when you start fah6. If you missed it, just scroll up in the terminal window if you installed the desktop.

Ditch the gpu's.

Each one is pulling nearly the same power for horrible points.

ive ditched my desktop folding completely for now. 2p is running 6903 at just under 45 minutes tpf and it has either shut down or frozen a few times but i think i figured out why that was. it seems to happen every time i remove the keyboard from that comp. i only have 1 keyboard so ive been using it between 2 machines and it seems to be shutting down or freezing after ive removed it so im gonna have to pick another cheapo up tomorrow. im at about 40-42% right now so another 2 days and it should be done. its gonna take a huge hit on bonus points with the stops ive had but once its running smooth im guessing about 75-80k ppd

You may need to set up a keyboardless setup, and use remote.

I believe muskys guide has this in it.

Wow I disappear a few days and see I've missed a lot! Nice hearing we have some more -bigadv machines chugging away. The Kraken wrapper both lists itelf on client startup and will be in task manager list. Long as it's there it's working.

Slider11 if you're getting around 45min a frame on a 6903, then that's just about right on the mark. You have 16 2.3G cores and I have 48 2.2G cores. I get about 14:15-14:30min frames. Before Kraken it was something like 17-18min frame can't recall exactly but was a nice bump when installed.

Jim425 glad you're finally getting better luck lol. Once you get a good 2p/4p going you can easilly shut everything else off, and in at least my case, could end up saving power.

As for the elcetric bills I totally feel your pain guys. Was planning on shutting down at least 1 machine but can't get myself to do it. Not sure wtf happened to my points, but my average is all over the place. Haven't been watching it too much lately. One thing that affects my points a bit is the relatively slow DSL in my area. Small town with same speeds we had a decade ago and no amount of money can get a faster one either. Takes about 42min to upload a 6903/6904.

jmossman, shocking that I'm having better luck...wait...I better go make sure it's still running. Yep, I'm at 86% of a 6904. I have two 6272s that should be here tomorrow. I'm on track to add about 440k points to our total tomorrow if I have the math right. Should be done in about 10-11 hours.

Any idea if the next WU will continue to run if I add 32 more cores, or will it restart? I kind of hate to waste 8 - 10 hours of 32 cores.

Not sure for bigadv, but SMP can switch the # of cores without any problems (it can even switch from Intel to AMD).

i should add somewhere in the 200-300k range. not sure with as many shutdowns as i had what my approximate tpf is but im guessing in the 60-70m range. after this it should be better since it hasnt shut down of frozen since ive left the keyboard hooked up.

i have kraken installed and it was installed after my first wu started but i havent finished one yet. am i seeing the correct tpf with kraken or once i start my next wu will it start taking effect?

shoot you wanna talk about slow internet? i live in a valley with all of 30 homes in my village... im running 382 kb/s speeds meaning if im lucky while downloading something ill see it hit 40 kb/s and my upload is atrocious at about 10-15 kb/s. i was under the impression germany was supposed to have good internet :-/

yall wanna get a brigade going to try and get some more folding activity? call it 6 figure folding

As has been mentioned in that thread, brigades are dead

I have 768 kb/s upload, but I cap folding at 20 KB/s...

My little jump actually made it in the results. 429,841 for one WU isn't too bad although not up to jmossman standards yet. The other 2p for the 4p should be here Today and installed Today.

Oh and no on adding more cpus during a WU. I added 2 on a WU I was working on and restarted it. The checkpoints didn't match and it failed and started over. I lost a day of folding or so I think on it.

FWIW, mine worked although it was a 6900. I ctrl-c'd and waited for it to finish. Then, shutdown.
