I am still using the XSPC compression fittings they are doing the job and look great! The only issue I have ever had with them was during installation and that was due to the fact that barb half of my fittings have no grip on it so the threads sliced my fingers. So because of that if I do any work on them I always have a coin handy to do any of the final tightening of the barb. The only place I use zip ties is when I am managing my cables. http://www.xs-pc.com/products/fittin...ssion-fitting/ they go for about 5.99 each but they came with my Raystorm kit that I got from Dazmode. Any time I can get rid of some plastic I can this comes from my years playing airsoft and working on my jeep. The last time I had to deal with a plastic mount I snapped it clean off while trying to remove a turn signal relay switch. So this is more of a personal preference more than anything.

In the excitement of all this I cant believe I haven't really thanked you guys for all the advice thus far.

I think I am going to go with the tried and true worm clamp. Since it does not look that bad and is a lot easier to get off then a tightened zip that is for sure. Plus I think I will have less issues with leaks.

I have upgraded all my barbs to the Danger Den Perfect Seal - Seen Here and the rest are BP angles. The DD are a HUGE PITA to get tubing on but once it's there it isn't coming off. In fact I accidentally unscrewed one that was WRENCH tightened on my rad trying to get the fitting on the other end off.

Yet another question. Feelings on Teflon Tape?

Also Hardware Note:
I think I am between the G1 Sniper (Gigabyte) or the ASUS Deluxe Z77 and MAAAYYYBE the Sabertooth. However I am Heavily Leaning towards the Sniper.

Don't use it. If i remeber right there was a thread a while back that had the same question and i think the reason why is due to the fact that were using a non tapered fitting so there is no reason to use it.

So far on this build I haven't been using it at all. I did on my first build but wasn't sure if it made any difference or not.

There are some tricks to releaving the PITA of putting tubing on barbs.

1. Get a pan of hot water and warm the end of the tubing before fitting.
2. Work the tubing on and off a fitting not in the system a few times.

If the o-ring is working correctly no fittings need to be more that snug. If you wrench them down to tight you risk crushing the o-ring. Crushed o-rings will not seal and you will have a leak. If you cranked it down to get the other fitting off. I would inspect the o-ring. If it was my system I would replace that o-ring.

Just my opinion,

Andy

Nice pick-up Andy. As one who has caused at least one leak from over-tightening and crushing an O-ring, I agree 100% with Andy. I only hand-tighten fittings and still am more likely to over than under-tighten. Extra O-rings are cheap and can be purchased from Sidewinder, hardware stores, and automotive supply.

Yeah, When I said wrench tighten I mean it as basically barely tighter then hand tight as I have over tightened and broken things, but I will defiantly check everything out. Really only have 1 to check since I changed around stuff once it was mounted. Of course everything willl be leak checked with no hardware in it

Did some aesthetics work today as well as changing over to the worm clamps. Everything is coming along nicely I would say. The paper is for planning that is an XL-ATX board size so you can see for reference in the case. Not sure if the Sniper 3 will be that size as there is conflicting info about it but it does have 7 slots so I am gonna say it probably will be.

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Looking good Krystm - thanks for this thread, it's been very helpful for me.

Additional Comment:

If you're still at all interested in looking at motherboard tests, there is a compilation here.

At the top of that page there's a comparison review of 20 motherboards, it's in dutch, but the numbers are still legible

I like my Obsidian 800D but you could also look into the mountain mods cases. they have some nice beasts that would house all that equipment including the extra PSU.

i really like the duality one but currently do not need such a beast of a case.

dang just saw you already got a case. It's looking good man keep the pics coming.

So I am rocking a 4.6 GHz OC with HT and Speedstep enabled which is pretty good or so I hear. Temps stay around 55-60 C under super heavy load. Still awaiting GPUs and Liquid solution for that as well. Working on some Wiring management and will have some pics up of all that when I get finished... hopefully this weekend with the exception of the GPUs that are slated for next week.

In the mean time....

And...
