i removed the bigadv tag and it picked one up real quick ~3-5 minutes. just gotta wait to see what project it is.

meh 6974... smp core so ill kill that one and see if i can get a bigadv

Additional Comment:

hmm thats weird. it froze and when i restarted it the pre bios screen where you choose to go into bios and such said something about a dimm error or no dimm detected... i wonder if i have some ram going bad and that is causing my turning on and off issues. im testing the ram now ill let yall know what the results are.

memory test passed with no issues. ubuntu only shows 4gb of ram though instead of 8gb

ok ive officially had it 2p is going down for a bit. i think im gonna order new ram and switch to 10.04 ubuntu without windows to see if any of that fixes my issues. im getting quite fed up with this machine restarting and randomly freezing

You could always try it with 2 sticks and see if it stays up. Do you have any fans blowing across the Northbridge/Southbridge and memory?

Good luck. As you know, I've been there.

What's your config file for FAH have in it? I'm wondering if you are choosing an uncommon option or langouste or Kraken are causing issues. I'm not using langouste, yet.

i havent even downloaded kraken or langouste yet on this new install. ill fire it up in a bit and let yall know what it has in it

i was looking in the folder and i found something that made me wonder. there was a machinedependant file in my fah folder. im not sure what it was i couldnt open it but i looked on my i7 and i dont have that file so i deleted it. when i start fah it puts it back in but i deleted it after i had it started and so far it hasnt came back. we will see what happens

Additional Comment:

well i was messing with some jumpers on the board and had some issues between connecting to wireless and usb controller but seem to have fixed those. i started up fah and actually got it to download a bigadv in about 20 minutes(6903) i let it run to 1% before i put kracken on... 1 hour 2 seconds. if its like before i should be in the mid 40's once kracken kicks in. i restarted it with kracken so we will see if it stays on first off and what the times are from there on out. i noticed one thing when i start the rig my mobo does (normally or atleast before) 7 shorter quieter beeps and one loud beep. since i started messing with the jumpers its only doing 6 short quiet beeps and 1 loud so i may have actually fixed some stuff... who knows. i also was messing around with the bios aswell seeing if that helps anything. ill let ya know in the morning what the scenario is. also ive picked up a couple of 10xxx wu's on my i7. they take longer but they are giving me roughly what i was getting with the other wu's ive been running which is around 20-25k. i think im supposed to net about 26k for the 10127 im running right now at about 17 1/2 minute tpf.

Additional Comment:

so crazy thing happened last night... the 2p stayed running :O although my times are horrid. i went from 60 minute tpf without kracken to 58 minute tpf with

Congrats! I'm running about 35 or so with 24-2.1 cores with 7CL memory. So, you are going a little bit slower than that.

24x2.1=50.4 and 16x2.0=32 if we assume linear scaling at best, you should expect to be about 55 minutes (50.4*35)/32. With the decrease for the RAM speeds, you are pretty close to what I'd expect for a 6903 if that math is right. Do you know what your RAM settings are for Interleaving? You would possibly pick up a little there.

You are probably ok.

According to Hardforum, http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1669698

BIOS settings to check
- PowerNow set to Disabled (see above for the check)
- NUMA/SRAT set to Enabled
- Node Interleaving set to Disabled
- Bank/channel interleaving set to Auto or Enabled
- Tyan boards - Ungang DCTs set to Always

I doubt it... PowerNow is only supposed to do something when little to no load is on the CPU.
