HDD Smart status?

Hello all. I got some BSOD recently (NTFS.SYS or Bad Pool Header). No new HW added. Drivers are up to date - used SlimDrivers to check, if something is not. I also checked HDD with chkdsk, which has not found anything. I checked smart with HDDScan and I am worried about one attribute. Is it bad, or where could be problem? Seems it has default value? HDD is 4yo. I still believe the BSODs are made because some driver or bad registry which cannot be deleted or found easily with utilities...

Thank you for response.

I'd be doing some deeper checks on the hard drive, you could try HD tune or download the manufacturers utility. Chkdsk won't tell you much, you need to check for surface errors, I doubt it's the driver or the registry, could be a faulty cable, that attribute is the sign of a failing drive, I'd replace the data cable first. You should try posting your photos directly, could hardly see the photo for adverts which wouldn't delete.

You could try the chkdsk D: /r command. The D would depend on the disk drive letter.

CRC errors are usually caused by a faulty data cable or surface problems, I doubt it's corrupted driver or the registry. Could be the drives starting to fail, make sure you are backed up.

Hi, thank you for the response. Surface problem. Of heads themselves? I have tried that HD tune free by your suggestion (both quick and slow test)and everything is green, no read sector.

And here is the screen with some info about the disk from HD tune as well. Chosen another picture server, so there should not be an add. In HDDscan the second one from bottom was with "warning"

HD Tune

HDDScan

Are you still getting the BSOD, HD tune will pick up the obvious error, but you are better downloading the manufacturers software and doing a more thorough test, next time it BSOD's, get a picture of the BSOD and post it, googling the error might give a better idea of what is causing the problem. Did you try replacing the sata data cable.

Hello,

thanks idea. Ih ave not tried it yet. Two days without BSOD (it is showing before loading into Windows or no BSOD when in Windows so far - doing audio recording, playing, media). If it will show up again, I will try to change that cable, when I will visit my second home and test if it disappear from HDDscan. Then I post the results.

The problem I found with smart results, they don't always update, I had a sata drive that was spinning down due to a faulty power lead, the smart results still posted the same error years later, I'd do a thorough scan of the drive, if it passes with flying colors, I wouldn't worry about it unless you keep getting BSOD's that are drive related.
