What kind of cooling are you using?
A few suggestions: Set CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E) to Disabled Set C3/C6 State Support to Disabled Set CPU Thermal Monitor to Disabled Set CPU EIST Function to Disabled Set CPU Vcore to 1.36 Also, I'm not familiar with your motherboard, but if possible, set Enhanced Speed Step Technology to Disabled. |

Cooler is a Silenx pc cooler EFZ-120HA5
Not the best, but better than stock. |

You'll need more vcore to go higher than that speed, at which point you become bottlenecked by your cooling.
You might want to try messing with the CPU overcurrent protection and see if your CPU might be held back by the board throttling it down due to the current going over the default value. You could also try enabling CPU PLL overvoltage and drop the PLL voltage to 1.6v. Another thing you can try, this board can OC using two ways, first one is how you are doing it right now, the other is to leave the CPU multi at stock, but enable Turbo and set all 4 values at your OC. You can also set the power and current limits to something much higher that way, and I think you can even keep Speedstep and all the power saving stuff enabled using that method. I havent tried it personally but both showed a working OC at 4.9GHz on my 2500K using SuperPi. |

Ok I'll try this a report back.
Additional Comment: I guess I will have to settle with 4.3 for now. BTW: I have bios version f2, and saw they have up to f8 now. Should I update, or just leave it the way it is? Last edited by Maurice : 04-21-2012 at 03:08 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I can go higher, but temps were reaching like 83c, and I'd rather not run it that hot.
Like it is now it hits 70c loaded. idk why, this is a descent cooler. Additional Comment: another reason I was thinking of updating bios, is that it is 10c off of cpu temps. it says the cpu is running at like 31c when real temps and core temp says 41c. If I was you, I'd go ahead and flash the latest bios to your motherboard and see if that makes any difference for you. |

Wanted to see if this is ok for 24/7
I have not updated my bios, but I may.
Here are some pics and load temps. Will this be ok to leave this way? |

That's not even using LinX? temps are a bit on the high side then, but so long as it doesnt hang around that when you use your computer you will be fine.
Tried re-seating your cooler? How did you apply the TIM? |

When I use Linx It only reaches 58C. I found using prime it stresses it more for some reason.
I need to buy some AS5 and try reapplying and stuff. |

I don't know why you need such high volts.
When I was using a Corsair A50 - this is a $10 AR Heatsink mind you! - I was able to pretty easily get 4.5 using about 1.28v. My load temps with the A50 were about 67/68C. I'd definitely say get some good thermal paste in there, it'll shave a few degrees off, though it'll need a few days/a week to set to attain the best transfer of heat. Also - what sort of case are you using? Does it have good airflow? I'm really surprised by your results given I have such a similar system spec, or at least did. |

I got the as5 I will try that. My case is just a basic one, and the airflow was not the best. I have changed a little, 120 in the front, an 80 on the side, and a 120 blowing out the back. it has helped a little bit, but am waiting to put the as5 on. I am hoping that will give me more headroom.

It might help - I just did a new build and have a 6 month old Antec 902 II case just sitting about - may do a HTPC build with it but if you're interested I'm in So Cal too mate.
