Pushing RAM to the edge with Ivybridge CPU on Z68

Hi,

I have an ASUs Z68 V pro with the newest bios version.

I installed a 3770K recently and Corsair Dominator GT 2x 4GB. Currently I am stuck at 2200 MHz CL9 with the 1,5 V 2133 CL9 RAM-sticks. DRAM-Voltage is 1,65 Volt.

Since I read that the memory sticks are not limited to 1,65 V but the CPU is harmed by the higher voltage, what do I have to adjust in the BIOS to protect the CPU? CPU clock is 4,7 GHz Vcore offset +0,115.

I heard something about the Vtt or Vccio. But does that appply to IB-CPU as well?

DRAM-Voltage minus VCCIO should be not more than 0,5 and everything is fine for the cpu no matter how far you push your DRAM-Voltage?

I dont know about IB, but for SB, VTT/VCCIO - VDRAM needs to stay within 0.5v of each other.

Increasing VTT/VCCIO will increase heat in the processor as well.

I've run my 1.65 as high as 1.78, but the reality is that you will probably have to loosen the timings to get the ram to run faster. You should bench at the current ram speed and then bench at a lower ram speed. I think you'll find that it isn't worth the effort or extra v to the components for the neglible benefit in performance.

I know but like bigger rims on a car (which even cost you speed) it is something for the OC-heart .

If you really want to push your ram with ivy bridge you need a Z77 motherboard.
Z68 just doesn't clock anywhere near Z77 when it comes to memory performance.

Try clocking memory with a Z68 board, then try clocking it with a Z77.
You'll see a difference

What frequency are you talking about? Any proofs? Tests? Anything?

Additional Comment:

So nothing more than trolling. Fine.

Check XS if you want proof.

There are tons of results out there, notice that nobody gets high clocks with z68?
