m4n98td-evo usb problems?"help finding replacement"

Hi ive got an asus m4n98td-evo and everytime i plug most things into the usb ports except my keyboard and mouse it tells me it could perform faster in a usb 2.0 slot. what can cause this and can i fix it or should i rma it??

Example i just bought an iphone 3g 2 weeks ago and was trying to update the operrating system on it and it gave me an error message everytime i had to borrow a 6yrold laptop to fix it lol

Additional Comment:

Update:

Now need help picking out a good, cheap, preferably black, or black and red am3 or am3+ mobo thanks for looking and thanks for helping Mr.scott

Here. Un-install your chipset drivers and download and run this.

Shouldn't make a difference, but it might.
BTW, newest bios? Bios 1301 offers compatibility repairs on USB devices.

Of course you get a bad one now and then. That's why it's half the cost. You get 90 days from Geeks and what ever the normal warranty is from Asus on that board. Of all the open box and refurb items I've ever bought, I've only had one dud. Not saying there's no risk, but it's lower than you think.
