Best, safe bios settings for my 2600

Hello,

i'd like to know which settings would be best for my 2600. I'd like to run it at 4.2GHz but only if there wouldn't be a need to raise voltage a lot. When everything is set to 'auto' my CPU runs at 3.5Ghz and 1.028 under load (???). When i switch it to auto and x38 it runs at 3.8 indeed but ~1.2V... Why?

Could anyone post me his settings? I am aware that every chip is o/c differently, but anyways... i'd like to have a point to look up too. I run it on Asrock extreme 3 gen 3 with arctic colling 13. I'd like to keep my voltages as low as possible.

Thank you!

There is no "safe" OC. You need to set your voltage manually if you want to keep it below a certain point. Try for 1.3 and go up or down as needed. If you are stable at 1.3 try for 1.275...1.250...etc.

If you need more than 1.3 bump it up incrementally and watch your temps. I prefer to stay un 1.3 but that is just me. Nobody said "stay under 1.3".

But what are typical voltages for this cpu? 1.120 for 3.8, 1.25 for 3.9-4.2? This is what my mobo sets... not saying anything about overclocking yet.

Read some guides first. BIOS' auto voltage is overly agressive for stability purposes. It doesn't care about the sweet spot.
