Isolating a TEC
Maze 3 TEC socket 478 Lucite Top WB for Radeon 9700 Black Ice Pro I already have the Eheim 1250 pump, i'll take everything in 1/2 fitting. How do install the wb with the tec ? do i have something special to isolate the socket ? if someone has a walkthrough, i'd like a link.... Thanks |

do you mean insulating? If you didnt buy the dangerden block yet, consider in getting a Swiftech MCW478-UHT instead

The swiftech one comes ready to run. The danger den one you still need to buy the TEC, and the gaskets.

Your rad isnt going to be big enough to handle the heat load. You'll still get decent temps, but your water temp is going to start getting warm pretty quick. They advertise 919watts, which is about 600 more than you'll need, but they dont give the W/C rating of the radiator (the inverse of thermal resistance). You'll need at least two of those rads to get good temps. You'd be better off buying a car rad or heatercores like DogMan.
Your temps will depend on how cool you can keep your TEC. Which depends on your rad. Last edited by eweast : 02-07-2003 at 03:37 PM. |

that's just so complicated... i thought that would have been easy to choose all the part for a medium lvl watercooling. maybe i'll stick to a regular watercooling and take a dangerden kit for p4... even if the temp aren't as good as a tec, that will still be better than my actual HSF don't you think ?

Decent Water Cooling such as the Danger Den and Swiftech stuff will definitely be better than air. TEC's are NOT mid level watercooling, and should only be used by experienced people who have played with water before. A good TEC setup will easily get your temps in the 0-10°C range.

You're going to be dealing with near ~300watts of heat if you attach a 221watt TEC to your CPU. You thought cooling just the 70watts generated by the processor was bad.

Going for the swifty? If you do... It uses a 40x40mm Pelt... SO you can swap out that 80w unit for a 120, or even a monster 172w unit... C'mon! DO it! ![]() 172's are 24v though.... Work best with 18, but that still doesn't help. |
