Help a newbie - overclocking?
I'm running an AMD XP1700+ on an Asus A7N266-VM mobo. The external clock speed is 133Mhz and the processor is currently running at 1466Mhz Can I overclock this and make it faster? If so, how (bear in mind I'm a complete novice at this )?Is it advisable? Thanks in anticipation

If you could list some other specifications that might help.
RAM speed (ie PC2100(DDR266), PC2700(DDR333), etc.) The type of chip would help a lot, this information can be found on the top of the processor or on a little stick just to the side of the core. Very small printing. If this isn't feasible don't worry. RAM speed is usually very important. Also, are you using the built-in video or do you have a seperate video card that the monitor is plugged into? After looking at the manual for that motherboard it doesn't appear to have any overclocking features at all. Sorry man, but I really don't think you will be able to play with it very much. Just read around on this forum and look at some of the sticky's (3-5 posted threads that remain at the top of every category) and do searches if necessary and you will find out more than you need to know on OC'ing
