can you sofmod a 9700 pro to 9800?

I thought i saw something about it,can someone enlighten me?

Yup, it's more of a bios change.
All that happens is you upgrade the bios on the 9700 and it opens a feature up for it to act more like a 9800..
I'll see if i can find a link for ya.

form what i understand its not worth it since te 3.4 came out. All it will do is make ur card think its 9800pro but there is no real benifits

Hey vicious? do you know where i can download and install smartgart?i checked all my tabs and its not there,and i cant install from the cd,it gives me an error saying that i need to install the standard vga drivers first.

i just looked that **** up and u shouldnt have to install any agp drivers to get smartgart operational.Right now im havin problems gettin my smart gart up again even though its settings r on 8x i still cant get that tab back up. ill look into it and see if i cant figure out the problem.

cool well i dont think i can do that since my 9500pro is runnin 9800 pro drivers but way to go. also if u havent already go downloaded the 3.5cats from ati and install them cus theyll improve performance

im not to sure really cus i dont know what a stock 9700 pro is suppose to get but u need to oc that sucker as far as u can go and then see what u get

Hey vicious? if you can or anybody,please find me a link that will show me how to do the bios change to 9800,I'm sure you can ,if you can take a 9500 to a 9800,I would assume that you could take a 9700 to a 9800mthis card does not overclock that well.it does about 350-350 and thats about it maybe a little more,just getting to 9800 would be cool,thanks in advance.

the 9800 is a total diff core than the 9700 you can't flash the bios. all softmodding does is allows the 9700-9500's core to use paths that were designed for the 9800 to take advantge from...
