P-III Sony Vaio vs AMD 2000+ XP Sony Vaio Which is better

Ok I am looking at two laptops right now here are the specs, my question is which should I get? I am an AMD and Intel fan but I am not sure which to go with

Sony Vaio R505EL
Pentium III at 1.13 ghz according to Sony 1.2Ghz according to seller...
384 MB SDRAM 133
Intel 830 Shared Graphics Card w/48MB Shared
CDRW/DVD on DOCK
(this is a dockable sony)

Sony Vaio FR-130
AMD Athlon XP 2000
512 MB DDR RAM 2100
nVidia GeForce 4 420 Go w/16mb
CDRW/DVD all in one no dock

I like the P-III but I am afraid I will be getting less speed and notice it also the video card bothers me. I make music video's and I don't want to have any problems. However the fact that it is dockable and has the same cdrw speed, extra features and its the same brand have me curious. I have the FR-130 right now and while I like it it feels sluggish at times. I have been rather unhappy with it lately and I am not sure what to do. I can't overclock the processor on here without opening it btu I was curious as to if I could with the P-III. Also I am just curious as to what everyone else thinks because I want to get a good machine. I will be keeping my harddrive (40 Gig) with what ever system I decide on so I guess I am just looking for someone to tell me what would be better to work with here. I started looking at it because my Athlon is read as a P-III by many programs that compair it to specs.
So I was not sure what to think, I can show pictures of either machine or you can look at sony.com. I really need some help by tomorrow morning so if you could help me out I would be thankful ^-^

you cannot overclock any mass produced computer (atleast 99% of them)...

I would go with the 2000+... but I am an AMD man anyway...

it is a faster machine...

definitely the AMD laptop...the DDR memory will improve system performance, and you'll notice a difference between using SDRAM and DDR.

Thats the system I am currently on and it feels slugish as of late (or maybe I just want a new system *L*) Anyway I did manage to overlcock the Video card in it for awhile but it would run to hot *L*.

I like the system its just the lack of extra features and the fact that it kept being listed as a PIII Type Processor...why is that?

youll have a performance drop if you switch to that system. If your going to go with intel, you will at least need to get a pentium 4 to be faster

I guess it all comes down to the the ability to dock it or not. I am going to look at it atleast but I think I will just keep looking for a toshiba. I am trying to sell this FR-130 currently, but anyway thanks for the info.

*L* I know my mistake I had relisted it there and before I ended this one I got answers here... ^-^ Can anyone tell me how big of a difference it would be in going from this to the P3? Would it be really noticeable in multitasking? Like playing windows Media Player, woking on the web at once? Thats about as far as I push things, maybe having word or note pad open.

out of the two you listed, the AMD system is superior in every aspect....

-Platform/Architecture: DDR-platform vs SDR-SDRAM platform on the P-III
-clockspeed/raw MHz: 1.66GHz for AMD vs. 1.13GHz for intel
-RAM: 512MB vs 384MB
-GFX: Ge4 420 Go owns intels' integrated graphics

what O/S are you running? did you install the latest chipset-drivers?

Windows XP Pro. I cleaned out the registry and that has fixed my problem there was a lot of crap in there I guess I better keep on top of it more often. It seems to be much faster now. for 600 I am still going to look at the P3 as another machine I just really find the dock set up sony had very appealing and as long as it would be able to handle my music video production in Vegas 4.0 I would be happy. Anyway it leaves options open for me and if it is all just looks then it can stay put *L* ^-^ Thanks everyone it seems that no P-III is that good anymore no matter the situation I just wish I knew why my Athlon XP showed up as a P-III architecture....
