Maybe we're talking different ATTO's ...
I've recently found significant differences between ATTO and iometer in my testing of various RAID adapters and drives. I suspect that there is a problem with ATTO. The difference was as high as 35%. ATTO always read higher. It is worthwhile noting that none of the RAID board suppliers that I have seen use ATTO in their published testing, while some definitely use iometer (I have spoken directly with their engineering staff). It is also worth noting that the board suppliers usually do their testing on raw drives, not partitioned drives.

Try iometer; you can get it at www.iometer.org. The problem with iometer is that it is not as easy to use as ATTO, hence the wider use of ATTO.

You will need a config file for iometer (one of the hurdles to using it). I'm going to try to put together a simple config file (.icf) and a setup as a starting point for new users of iometer soon.

Ok i need input.. i hooked up my raid0 raptors yesterday. However i can not see any improvements from my previous 1 ata 7200 drive. i used sisoftware / file system bench. here are results.

Drive index = 79Mb/sec
Buffered read = 82
Sequential read = 99
Random read = 45
Buff write = 98
Seq. write = 99
random write = 67
avg access time 12 ms

Raid0 striped with 2 raptors. 16kb chunks. On Gigabyte ga-7n400 pro2, ddr333 512, xp2600 Tb

do these look ok for when i have done? to me looks unsatisfying but i dont know much about benchmarking. what are some of the compared speeds that you have? and what other benchmarks can i do and compare to mine?? please help.

i have 2 wd 120gb in raid 0 and i benches much higher than the seagate guy in this post. i use 128kb for stripe and got 78mb/s index in sissandra. and also my score is just a liltle lower than the raptor in raid 0 for the atto test. i'll post up a pic soon. i do feel 2x faster, games load in seconds.

Why HD Tach graphic line is so rough - test gives random access time 8,8ms and read burst speed 92,3MB/s? Would it help to change it to ICHR5 or is one of the Raptors out of order in some way?

Well I made some changes:

I use now ICH5R / Rair0 / stripe 32Mb / Fat32 diwided under 8GB parts except Video i:\ 32GBb in the attach pictures (because Fat32 is faster that way). Here are the results and as you see the HD Tach graphic is still rough:

the write is crazy man. that thing smokes. i wonder if i should change to fat32 instead of ntsf. is the performance worth the lost of security on ntsf ?

What security? I haven't notice anything. I use ZoneAlarm, Antivir and test in there:
http://scan.sygatetech.com/quickscan.html

If you need biger files than 24GB then the Fat32 is not working ok.

I whole heartedly agree. Raptor noise >> Raptor RAID 0 performance. I traded up my Raptors for a couple Samsungs, which are absolutely the quietest drives I've ever had the pleasure to not hear.

What is this noise people keep talking about?? I can barely hear my tv over the 2 tornados in my case, much less a little noise from a couple of raptors
