I'm pretty sure you would place the 256's in slots 1 and 3 and place the 512 in slot 2, but i would let some more people post just to make sure

Actually I run 256mb, 512mb, 512mb(slot1/2/3) and never had any prob. As long as slot 2&3 have the same size modules I think it'll work out perfect for you.

to get dual channel to work, treat your 3 dimm's as two. What I mean by this is that your slots are separated. Two are close and one is further apart. Treat those two groups (the two close ones, and the one far one) as two slots. The two close together are one slot. Now, make those two slots equal. If slots 1 and 2 are close together and slot 3 is further apart (which it should be). Balance 1 + 2 = 3. If that works, you should go dual channel just fine. For example, if you had 1 512 and 2 256's, put the 2 256's into 1 and 2. now that "group" is 512 which = the 512 stick that you'll place in slot 3 |

Slot 3 is the dual channel slot. If slot 1&2 are filled it is not DC I dont think. In Abits manual it says to use slots 2&3 for DC.
I have 2x512 and 1x256. |

aah, i forgot that it will match slot 3 if slot 1+2 is greater. In that setup the two 512's are dual channel and the 256 is single channel, so yes, it will detect dual channel and 1g of it will be. The rest will go single.
