they both have 20gb but the iriver is cheaper. i actually prefer the iriver for its ability to play back OGG files.

i have had both. my ipod broke after 5 days. the iRiver is the best plain and simple, and now there is a 40gb version. the only problem with iriver one is it doesnt have all the goodies like ipod. it doesnt make the lists and everything, its all hands-on, u have more control of everything. you can make playlists with winamp for it. the thing i love about ipod is iTunes, i wish every player could use it...i have my iriver up for sale at ebay because i never use it http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3082695475

what exactly are you looking for in an mp3 player? my vote goes for the iriver, for price, features and battery life. you can get it for $300 at amazon i believe w/ a MIR. it comes w/ a built in fm tuner and built in a mic/recorder, and it includes an external mic. it gets about 12-14 hours of battery life....compared w/ the ipods 4-6 hours. it also supports ogg, if you have any ogg vorbis music, and wma/drm wma, if you use any online music stores except itunes (which uses aac). the playlist making is kind of sh*tty though. you have to make them in winamp and save as a .m3u, then upload it to the ihp. on the ipod you can make em on the fly. the ihp also displays text files and i think you can make it display the lyrics for a song in sync or something.
you might also want to check out the rio karma, which is selling for about $234 ATM. it has 14-16 hr battery life, a pretty powerful amp (compared to ipod/ihp) and kick *** sound quality. it is shorter, but fatter compared to the ipod/ihp, and there was a batch of hard drives which would crap out, but i think its over now. it supports FLAC/ogg/mp3/wma playback, gapless playback if thats important to you, and a pretty powerful playlist maker. there are zero accessories for it though. no play-through case, remote, or fm tuner. |

get the Creative Zen NX not only can you expand it yourself, but its affordable. i think they have models up to 60GB. also it has the best sound quality around. battery life is in the 12+ hour range.

I love my new ipod. It isn't a 20 gig though but I am sure that not many people need it. I doubt you will so look into a 10 or 15 gig one that is cheeper.
