Future, vidcards like motherboards??

I was thinking, how right now with mobos u can replace the cpu, well how about vidcards, u buy an ati or a nvidia, and u could replace the gpu with another ati or nvidia, and replace the ram, wouldnt that be kinda sweet? sorry i have nothing else to be really thinking about 8o

Sounds neat.
I wouldn't mind having more options to tweak and play with.

I'm supprised no one mentioned this earlier.(maybe they have)

I wonder??? what about modding an old vid card to try.
-I think I could figure out how to add ram but I would think the card's bios would have to be changed in order to make use of the new added ram...
-Then comes to play the voltage...doesn't the agp8x bus only accomodate 1.5v and most current ddr runs on more than that.

You got me thinking.

But the question is why am I wasting my grey matter I'm sure Ati and Nvidia would have thought of this if it were practical(people get payed big bucks to sit around and think)

Hrmm considering the new cards have FCPGA GPUs i see no reason why you couldnt take a 9800 GPU and put it in a 9700 board with a bios flash, or a 9700 gpu in a 9500 board with a bios flash.

Well if you go pick yourself up an old *** VC (and ISA slot type) with like 4mb of onboard ram, it'll have a slot or two to where you can add some more memory and double it to like 8mb

I like the replacement chip on the motherboard idea. That way there would be even less bottlenecks, and you could stick a big friggen heatsink on it as well. Interesting....

Thanks guys and I agree. Time for major changes not minor ones that cost us a ton of cash each 6 months to upgrade. Just do it already. LOL
