Shooting for 3GHz...

Now I have a 2700MHz CPU (see sig), it is still kinda of jerky while playing. Take for example one I recently acquired: Day After Tomorrow: --------------------- VIDEO: * 608 x 256 * 23 frames/second * 233 kbps * 12 Bit Video sample size * XVID video compression AUDIO: * 448kbps * no other details I have all the latest Windows Media Player 10, XVid, Divx5, AC3 sound codecs installed but the movie just plays rather jerky. I'd seriously doubt my hardware is bottlenecking anything right now. Is this normal, or some XVid coders are just weird?

just get the klite mega codec pack. search google for it, it will fix everything unless the video is poorly encoded, wich i doubt

The only thing I can think of is that the movie was recorded in PAL as opposed to NTSC and when you convert one to the other you will get "chopiness" due to the different framerates of the two. Or something is hogging so much cpu time during encoding, but I bet the former is the case

download ffdshow and see how it works afterwards, you might need to assign it to decode xvid instead of the default xvid codec you got, but it might aswell work automatically.
