MSI TurboStream 600W
OK, my Sunbeam NUUO died unexpectedly and I needed a PSU in a pinch for cheap, so I ordered this. I have done some googling and came up with not much info or reviews. Thus far, it works with my rig nary a hiccup (fingers crossed) and is pretty stable. Does anyone have any info as to who really manufactured this unit or if it is complete sh!te??? Additional Comment: anyone?!?! Last edited by MrShush : 07-31-2007 at 08:17 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

I can't speculate on exactly who manufactured it, but being that its 80% + efficiency and the 12v rails look to be high quality based on their power ratings im going to say its a solid PSU.
Based on all the facts i was looking at it should have a solid 12v rail, but you might check it with a Digital Multimeter to be safe. |

MSI or Seasonic, I'm pretty happy with it. I'm certain it was a rebranded something or other, but can't figure it out. Was hoping for some insider or guru like david to shed some light.

i would have picked up the OCZ 600w in the same price range, but i doubt that the MSI PSU is going to blow up on you.

For those not familiar with the Deer Computer Co / Deer Group (sub brands Deer, L&C, Apex, Allied, Austin, Solytech, and many others), they have a long standing reputation as one of the worlds worst power supply manufacturers. Their products have been repeatedly cited for having poor designs, poor electrical components, poor assembly, poor quality control, poor protection circuitry, and poor longevity.

Confirmed crap? No. The unit has not been rigorously tested, has not been dissected in detail, and does not have a long term field history. I can confirm that it is a Deer product built under the Solytech brand and that Deer sells this unit as the Apex SL-8600EPS. It has been on the market for about 1 year. Knowing the manufacturer brings some suspicion to the product, but without more information the build quality and long term electrical performance can only be ranked as undetermined.
