Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 Tower Case Review @ EOC!

EXTREME Overclocking has just posted a review on the Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 Tower Case

Sleek and silent seems to be what Cooler Master was going for when they designed the Cosmos 1000 computer chassis. This case has style, from the brushed aluminum sides, to the piano black finish on the door, even the black mesh for the front drive bays. This isn’t your average case, this case was designed for performance, silence, and you.

If you like this one, stay tuned for our review on the new "Cosmos S" case!

I have both cases, cosmos and cosmos s.
I fell in love with the layout and design of the cosmos. It kept my hardware quite cool. I also never had issues with the hdd layout of the cosmos1000.
the S improves on perfection and has me eager to move to the world of watercooling.

Great review!

The layout here makes it kind of odd to install a water cooling system. Back to the age old question, how would I empty my fixed reservoir from the bottom of the case. With a box this big who wants a separate enclosure half as big for the pump and res.

If you did have more than 3 hard drives in there your fan wouldnt be able to actually circulate much air through the case.

Most likely I would take the fan off the bottom and just install it in the door just off center of the Processor so it blows ont he GPU also. Without the bottom fan you would be free to mount a res in it's location with the tubes aimed upwards, still working on how I'd drain the whole thing without a set of drain cocks.

I've noticed a trend with some of EOC's reviews. They seem to felate more than review. I'm not saying you need to be harder on the products or anything. It's just that I don't seem to gain much from the review that I couldn't get off of the company's web site.

This review in particular seems to be more of an infomercial than a review.

I must say though, this isn't the case with video cards and such, those are usually in depth with benchmarks, which I have every reason to believe are quite accurate.

Wow really? I mean if the product was bad I'd let you know. The thing is, is that this case is AWESOME. I think the people that own it will agree.
Of course there will be some people who don't like everything, but I was crazy about this case.
Jason also reviewed the Cosmos Type-S and he liked it as well. I'm not sure why there isn't a forum post about it, but its on the eoc home page.

Well, it's kind of hard to be objective and give numbers with a case. Doing something like benchmarking a video card, or testing a power supply, or CPU, you have a specific purpose for that product and can relative numbers against similar products.

For something like a case, we try to convey the features (some obvious, some subtle), quality (or lack of), issues / problems, and things of that nature.

Behind the scenes, we have had issues with a couple cases from other manufacturers. They never made it to published reviews, but we did give them vital feedback about their products that needed fixing.

Usually we try to skip reviews on junk / low quality products. A person should know if they are only willing to spend $20 on say a "600W" power supply that it *probably* won't be up to par. What we try to do is separate out the "best of the best". We have had some hurdles getting reviews back in regular cycles, but hopefully things will pick up now that I've moved my office and am no longer temporarily working out of a pile of boxes. Also had some issues getting DSL back up and running at the office, took the phone company over two weeks to get it working!

I just wish this case(or the Cosmos S), had a clear side panel, or even one bought seperatly. If they did, I would be all over it, but Im not going to spend $200 on a case, and $250 on water cooling and not be able to see it.

I plan on scoring the black one of these. I pretty much can't live without it being my next home for my hardware.

I'm *pretty sure* I saw a side-panel you can buy from Cooler Master that has a big window for both Cosmos cases...

The Cosmos S I suppose you could remove the fan & mesh and mount your own plexi if you want to DIY...

http://www.coolermaster.com/microsite/Cosmos_S/

Yeah, there it is... The two buttons under "misc" are backwards... so click on the touch sensor to see the clear panel...

Now it comes down to money.
Its that, or the Rocketfish tower from BB, and the clear side panel for $60 shipped, or $250 for this.

How much is the side panel for that? I dont see anywhere to buy it.

EDIT: Actually, can you just remove the black part and the fan thats behind the mesh on the side? I dont care if its mesh or a window, just as long as I can see in it.

If you had enough illumination inside the case you could probably see through.

Everything on the side panel screws in, so you could remove just like the fan and the fine (cloth?) mesh, but leave the exterior metal mesh screen... Or like I said remove it all and do a custom plexi... There's already a bunch of screw mounts there so you would just have to rough-cut the plexy to the case size and drill some holes where the screw mounts are...

I'll email Cooler Master and ask about the clear side panel availability...

Thanks.
Im also thinking about the Cosmos 1000 as well, and use the saved money for the glass and some tools. I really should by some tools soon, all I have is my black and decker brand dremel thing, and a philips head screw driver lol.

Additional Comment:

Yay, I just called my BB and they have the Rocketfish/Lian Li tower for $47. Dont think I can pass on that. Might go get it tonight.
