802.11n Unaltered in Finalized Version
Earlier this week, the Wi-Fi allianced announced that the definitive version of the 802.11n standard will not differ from the latest Draft 2.0 version, that was created in 2007. Minor additions or adjustments may take place, but in general, Draft 2.0 is to work perfectly with the final standard. Because 802.11n kept being delayed, numerous manufacturers decided to implement the Draft version in their products.Full Article @ Hardware.Info |

Cool, I've been using n for awhile now... it only connects @ 1300mbps but I read that if I tweak somewhere, it should go at 300mbps

yep i have a draft n for my house, i live in the city so the walls and floor are a little thicker than a normal home, reaches all ends of the house. just make sure you throw that security in there, your neighbors now, more than ever, can mooch your internet.
that said, depending on which side of the fence you are this could be a really good or really bad thing :-p |

situation: one centrino cpu laptop gets 144mbps and the other, even though a centrino 2 cpu, gets 72mbps and fluctuates. i am using WRT610N router.. speeds before were a tad slower but firmware update helped.. any other suggestions to speed up maybe the centrino 2 laptop? thanks and appreciate the original news story

try to go into the device manager and find the card. right click properties and hope theres settings there that you can tweak to boost up speed. intel chipsets usually have a million settings that you can change, just be sure u understand what ur doing. some may be beneficial while others may disable it.
