Intel Temporarily Halts Shipments on 2nd Gen X25-M's

XBit Labs has an article citing that Intel has found a serious bug in 2nd Gen X25-M's that causes data corruption.

Intel Corp. has temporarily suspended shipments of its latest solid-state drives that utilize multi-level cell (MLC) flash made using 34nm process technology. Apparently, the company has found a bug in its firmware that causes data corruption.

Eh, it happens. There were actually similar bugs for brief periods of time in a lot of SSD's. The difference is that since Intel actually cares (and more importantly can afford to) about validation and customer satisfaction, it will do something like this rather than ship defective drives and then release a firmware update later.

does suck though.
