AMD Phenom II X4 965 - 125W TDP Processor

EXTREME Overclocking has just posted a short review / article on the new AMD Phenom II X4 965 - 125W TDP Processor.
Today AMD is releasing a revised Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor. The TDP has been lowered from 140W to 125W, and also happens to be the new C3 stepping. Along with this new processor launch the prices for the 965's have been lowered to an expected price of $195 USD, a savings of about $20.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is probably going to be the last big thing from AMD for this year.

Looks like a winner. My PHII quad takes about 1.5v to keep anything over 3.8GHz stable so yeah, I'm impressed with the new stepping and think it's a step in the right direction.

Good article Jason.

Nice review Jason.

The new stepping seems to be a nice improvement with a little bit lower vcore to reach better clocks.

Great Review. The benchmarks look great and thank you Jason for taking the time to do this review.

Have we heard anything definate about a 975BE @ 3600mhz yet? Or is it still hear/say?

If they do that they are really squeezing all they can out of these Phenom II's and I like it! Keep giving us more bang for our buck AMD

Well, it would be stretching the design to the limit... Hard to believe it has only been a year since the original Phenom II release.

I think AMD would be focusing more on their value line, like more triple and quad core Athlon II chips.

They seem to be doing ok with the new stepping in a year, I had the orginal 920 and now have the new 965 and this thing OC's much better than the 920 did, also it seems to be cooler too.

But you are right, if they could focus on the value line maybe they would up their market to the masses a little bit more.

Value line and six core desktop chips... That's their two expansion points without having to release a whole new CPU design. When they get close to something I'm sure we will see mass release of 32nm chips from Intel...

Oh intel, always ruining my fun with AMD with their one-ups manship.

I hope they can keep the same socket for the six core cpus, that would make me and im sure lots of other people happy
