Will SATA 3 drive work with a SATA 2 motherboard?

I'm going to pick up an SSD drive soon (I blame the people on these forums for swaying me into SSD!), and my plan is to go with a SATA 3 drive. My motherboard is a SATA 2 board and I'm wondering if a SATA 3 drive will work with my motherboard until I make an upgrade?

Yes, but obviously it will be limited to SATAII speeds.

Excellent, I realize I won't get SATA III speeds, but I'm glad to know it is backward compatible. And I'll be ready when I make a motherboard change.
