The Most Profitable Final Fantasy of All-Time Is…

…Final Fantasy XI.

That surprises me. I figured it'd be X.

EDIT: Duh - then I remembered, XI was the MMO. lol

But if a translated report from Andriasang (via Famitsu) is any indication, Final Fantasy XI has been very kind to Square Enix financially over the last decade.

Square Enix’s CEO Yoichi Wada told an audience at VanaFest 2012 (which celebrates Final Fantasy’s MMO foray) that “looking at profitability [for Square Enix], [Final Fantasy XI is at] the top of all past Final Fantasy games.” That’s not exactly hard to believe, considering he qualified that statement by talking about how overall playtime since the game launched exceeds 200,000 total years.

i believe it.

played XI for nearly 8 years before hanging up my armor.

its fun factor reduced greatly over the years though. the years between 2004 and 2009 were the best.

Have not played since IX thats when I gave up. Looked at X and saw all the imo rather stupid character advancement options and thought, "na, no more jrpg's for me".

I would have thought IIX or VII would have been more succesful though.

On your Edit yea exactly. While it may have been most profitable it was definitely not most memorable or enjoyable for me personally, others mileage will vary.

X-2 for me was by far the best one from, though i got into the series when X came around.

Looks news-worthy to me. Throw a quote on the mofo and I will hit the front page with its wrath.

I only ever played X and X-2, but X-2 was miserable IMO. It was over too quickly and the plot was just rubbish. But that's just my two cents.

X is the only I've played from start to finish. I played a bit of XIII, but gave up on it.

One thing I really liked that they cut was the card game in VIII. You have a 9 square tile and your cards had 4 side scores. I cant remember the rules but It was bloody good fun. That was the thing I liked about FF at the time. All the mini-games, like choco racing.

Shame they forgot that and then made it all stupid teen angst crap later on.

Additional Comment:

Ironically enough, they are releasing another major content update to the game this year including more maps and brand new class(BeastMaster).
I know this because I have a few friends who are hardcore into it. Themselves are family so it's how they hang out despite living states away :P

Final fantasy's in my opinion?
XIII>XI>XII>Tactics>X>VIII>everything else.

What is even better than FF? Lost Odyssey. Former employees who worked on FF had their hand in developing it.
If you like turn based RPG, give a try. For $20 at your local game store, its worth it sadly 360 only title.
