Comcast to pay 800,000.
The cable provider was ordered by the agency to provide access to “a reasonably priced broadband option to consumers who do not receive their cable service from the company” under the Commission’s Order approving the Comcast-NBCU transaction in 2010. To further show its ire with Comcast, the FCC also said Comcast would have to provide the stand-alone reasonable broadband-only package for another year — until February 21, 2015. http://gigaom.com/2012/06/27/comcast...one-broadband/ |

Good for the consumer, but they still loose. Even if there is a class action lawsuit resulting from the ruling, the only ones who will benefit will be the lawyers.

$800,000 to all affected parties would not amount to much. the consumers repayment is a fair contract. I'm currently paying $63 for 20Mbit. its way too expensive considering the double play is like $80. I'll be happier once the price is adjusted.
Edit: i see that i wont get a discount, i just have a more apparent option for a cheaper service. i guess that's progress? |
